Peace Education for Students
HWPL’s peace education ensures that the youth acquire knowledge and skills needed for the promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence. HWPL has cooperated with various schools and educational institutions worldwide to promote skills of peacemaking in their homes, schools, community, the nation, and the world. 117 schools from 8 different countries (as of July 2016) voluntarily became HWPL Peace Academies in order to design programs and courses to enhance the peacemaking capacities of students in all grades.
The designated Peace Academies announce the Statement of Resolution and their future plans to incorporate peace education into their curriculum, which will teach about HWPL’s peace initiatives and will strengthen the solidarity among students.
Since its curriculum focuses on instilling hope of bringing sustainable and universal peace, HWPL’s comprehensive approach to education allows teachers and students to embrace the values of human rights, intercultural and interreligious understanding, and tolerance. Currently, the peace curriculum and diverse classroom activities are being designed to provide students with the opportunity to develop insight into strengthening their roles as leaders in the reconciling and peacemaking process.
