On March 9, Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) held the “Jaffna Peace Education Training (PET) Orientation” at the Chavakachcheri Divisional Secretariat in northern Sri Lanka. A total of 180 public officials involved in local administration attended the event, including the Divisional Secretary, Assistant Divisional Secretary, and officers responsible for development, social welfare, and rural development in Chavakachcheri, Jaffna.
Among them, 120 officials signed up for the peace education course. During the training session, conducted in Tamil, participants demonstrated high engagement and explored practical ways to apply the program in their local communities. In particular, all 45 Grama Niladhari officers—village-level administrative officials—expressed their intention to participate in the course.
As these officers serve as administrative representatives of their respective villages, this establishes a strong foundation for peace education to spread across Jaffna’s communities through the local administrative system.

Francis Chandra Sathiyasothy, Divisional Secretary of Chavakachcheri, stated, “It is important to expand peace and development initiatives to every village,” expressing his commitment to accelerating regional development through cooperation with HWPL. Ponambalam Thushanth, a Grama Niladhari officer and a university law major, shared after attending the orientation that more young people should participate in peace education and that he plans to introduce the program to fellow students in his field of study.
This orientation marked a meaningful turning point, demonstrating that peace education can move beyond a one-time event and take root within the local administrative system. HWPL plans to continue its cooperation with the Jaffna region.
