Environmental Cleanup at Bongaksa Temple & Yongwangsan Trail, Mok-dong, Seoul
“A Clean Environment Creates Peace”
On July 20, a group of 25 volunteers from HWPL Global 08 Branch conducted an environmental cleanup activity at Bongaksa Temple and the surrounding Yongwangsan trail in Mok-dong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul. This initiative was organized to help preserve the local cultural heritage and natural environment, while also ensuring that residents can enjoy the area in a more pleasant setting.
The volunteers pulled weeds and leveled the ground in the courtyard and precincts of Bongaksa Temple, collecting fallen leaves and litter throughout the area. A staff member from Bongaksa Temple expressed gratitude, saying, “Thanks to their efforts, visitors can now enjoy a more pleasant environment when coming to the temple for prayer.”
After completing the cleanup at Bongaksa Temple, the volunteers moved on to the Yongwangsan trail, where they collected litter and removed tangled vines. With hidden waste and overgrown weeds cleared from the dense trees and rocky areas, the trail regained its original clean and beautiful environment.
This volunteer effort was more than just a cleanup. It served as a meaningful reminder of the importance of protecting the environment together as a community. A clean environment is the first step towards a peaceful life. The dedication of the volunteers has laid the foundation for citizens to enjoy Mok-dong and Yongwangsan in a safer and more pleasant setting. HWPL Global 08 Branch plans to continue carrying out various activities to protect the community, preserve cultural heritage, and safeguard the environment.
