HWPL and Royal Embassy of Cambodia: A Warm Health-Sharing Event for Cambodians in Korea!
On May 24, 2024, a health check-up event for Cambodian residents in Korea was held at the Gimhae City Public Health Center, organized by the Cambodian Embassy, the Gimhae City Public Health Center, and Soonchunhyang University Hospital Busan. Approximately 80 Cambodians from areas including Busan, Gimhae, and Yangsan participated in the health check-up event. Around 30 volunteers also joined to help those who were uncomfortable communicating in Korean.
The Cambodian Embassy showed significant interest in the mental and emotional well-being of Cambodians residing in Korea. They allowed HWPL to have its own booth at the event, believing that the philosophy and content of HWPL’s peace education could be beneficial to the Cambodian community.
HWPL prepared a survey based on the content of the second lesson within its 12-lesson peace education material, titled, ‘Realizing the Value of Oneself.’ Most Cambodian participants who received health check-ups visited the HWPL booth, taking time to reflect on their own value. When asked if they would be willing to attend related peace education sessions in the future, all participants responded positively.
Ambassador H.E. Chring Botum Rangsay, who hosted the event, expressed great interest in HWPL’s peace education and proactively proposed future collaborations with the Embassy to plan for peace education programs for Cambodians.
First Secretary Touch Thearat and Ambassador’s Aide Chham Chhavrath, who were also present, expressed their surprise and gratitude for HWPL’s spirit of volunteerism and drive, stating their anticipation for future cooperation.
Great anticipation is held for the future plans of HWPL and the Cambodian Embassy to collaborate on designing and conducting peace education programs aimed at improving the mental and emotional health of Cambodians.
