Introducing an IPYG Affiliate Organization – Khmer Youth Association (KYA)
The Khmer Youth Association (KYA) is a non-governmental and non-political youth organization working to expand youth participation and promote social development across Cambodia. Established in 1992, KYA works with diverse local communities and supports young people in becoming key actors in addressing social issues. In particular, it promotes youth participation in a wide range of fields, including human rights, democracy, gender equality, health, and education, while building a foundation for sustainable social development.

KYA has been actively collaborating with IPYG since 2023 through the sharing of best practices in peace initiatives and participation in solidarity activities and events for peacebuilding. Currently, KYA is working with other youth organizations in Cambodia on a project to translate IPYG’s youth peace education program, the Youth Empowerment Peace Class (YEPC), into Khmer. Through this project, KYA is helping local young people access peace education more easily.

YEPC Khmer Translation Project
Through this cooperation, KYA and IPYG plan to carry out various activities aimed at promoting a youth-led culture of peace. Beyond the localization of peace education content, their cooperation is expected to expand into areas such as strengthening youth leadership and promoting community-based peace activities. Through continued cooperation, the two organizations will also contribute to building a peace network in Cambodia.

Prak Monirath, President of KYA, emphasized the importance of young people around the world actively participating as agents of social change:
“Maintain a positive mindset and stay focused on your goals in life. This is the path toward a better life and a more beautiful world.”
Moving forward, through its cooperation with IPYG, KYA will continue to provide young people with diverse opportunities to grow into key leaders who advance peace and development.
